Ninja Man Talks Being Addicted To Cocaine For 10 Years Ninja Man has admitted he was hooked on cocaine for over 10 years before being able to kick the habit. The veteran dancehall artist has revealed his past struggles with cocaine following the recent arrest of veteran Reggae crooner George Nooks, who was detained for possession of the drug. According to Ninja Man, he is disappointed with Nooks but fans should not be too quick to judge him as most influential Reggae/Dancehall acts from the 80’s era battled the serious drug addiction. The “Murder Dem” deejay says that during the 80’s cocaine “was just the thing to do at the time.” He claims many superstars became hooked on the drug during that era, and it was only his personal mental strength that allowed him to beat his addiction after 10 years. George Nooks was arrested on May 5 after cops found two ounces of cocaine in his 2016 Mercedes Benz during a search after the singer was observed acting in a suspicious manne

Female Star In Dexta Dap’s Steamy “Owner” Video Is Gay! Turns out the real “Owner” is a lady. Dancehall/Reggae artist Dexta Daps broke the internet on Thursday, May 11 with the release of a short film for hi s  debut album   “Intro.” The sexually charged eight minute, fifty-three seconds cut was produced and directed by Chris Strikes and sees Phylicia “Lady Ice” Carty starring in a  explicit  s cene for his “Owner” single going viral on social media. Since the video surfaced online, many began lusting over Lady Ice, however sorry to say guys you’re not her type. Alkaline Sings About Leaving His “Impact” In The Dancehall Industry Alkaline rolls out new single for his Vendetta fans. The Dancehall artist released “Impact” on Friday May 12. The track follows his recent collaboration “Gyalis Pro” with Sean Paul and “Nice & Easy.” Alkaline sings about his dominance and leaving an “Impact” in the Dancehall industry in the Gego Don Records-produced track. Vybz Kartel Jury Forewoman Denies Fondling Court Clerk Vybz Kartel case is still lingering in the Jamaican court system with a corrupt juror on trial for bribery. There was high drama in court on Tuesday when the case got underway in the Home Circuit Court as the female juror who served as the forewoman during the high-profile murder charge was accused of fondling a court worker. During cross-examination, while giving her testimony, attorney Valerie Neita-Robertson asked her if she fondled a male court clerk whose name is being withheld. “Is it correct that on some occasions you would embrace [clerk, whose name is being withheld]?” the attorney asked to which the forewoman answered no. “On some occasions you, in particular, would fondle him?” Neita-Roberston pushed on to which the forewoman laugh and deny the accusations. Vybz Kartel Appeal Trial Date Set For February 2018 Vybz Kartel will have his appeal trial started on February 19, 2018. The date was set during a court hearing on Tuesday between lawyers representing the defense and the prosecution. Last month, a judge granted Vybz Kartel the green light to proceed with his appeal after reviewing documents submitted by his legal team. Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John were all convicted of the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in March 2014. All four men are appealing their conviction, citing numerous issues with their trial including witness intimidation and tampering with evidence by law enforcement officials.  Defense attorneys will still have to submit their skeletal argument to the Jamaica Appeal Court by June and file authority by July. The prosecution is also expected to make their counter arguments by the end of July and after which judges will have time to review their submission ah

Sean Paul and Shenseea Working on New Music Sean Paul and Shenseea is cooking up some new music for us in the studio. Sources inside Romeich Entertainment camp confirmed with Dancehall HipHop on Wednesday that the two are working on a new collaboration. “Sean Paul is the top dancehall artist right now and Shenseea is the hottest new female artist on the scene so a collaboration only makes sense,” sources told us. “We are excited about whats coming so stay tune.” Shenseea also posted a photo of the two in the studio with the caption, “We work till we got bags to get bags.” Some of Sean Paul’s biggest hits of his career are with female artists like Beyonce, Sasha, Keyshia Cole, Alexis Jordan, Dua Lipa, and Sia. Last year the dancehall legend scored a Billboard Hot 100 number one single on Sia’s “Cheap Thrills.” SP is currently working on his next major-label album due this year under Island Records. Perhaps his new music with Shenseea will be featured on that project.

Masicka Drop Alkaline, Aidonia & Mavado Diss Song “Squeeze” Masicka is taking on everybody in dancehall except for the Gaza boss.  Earlier this month, Masicka took a few shots at Mavado and Alkaline during a performance in the Caribbean island Antigua. Seems the Genahsyde deejay was just getting started because now he unleashed a gritty new diss track “Squeeze” where he not only disses Gully/Vendetta, but also take down Aidonia who he has a long standing beef with. “Banga dem weh hammer nyamma dem weh / The rasslcaat K it a stagger them weh / If a no Gaza a Genahsyde a dat them say / Light up a spliff with the grabba them deh,” Masicak rhymes while responding to Aidonia single “Banga.” In another line, Masicka also took a few shots at Mavado calling him a fake dread. “Wake which boss fake dread weh kiss ass / Know how much boy man put underneath grass,” the Genahsyde deejay spits. UK Fans Riot After Alkaline Show Cancelled, Heavy Police Presence & Helicopters In Brixton One person has been injured after fights broke out at an Alkaline gig in Brixton. Police surrounded one of  London’s biggest music venues  after fans allegedly tried to storm a sold-out concert by Jamaican dancehall singer Alkaline.  Roads around the O2 Academy Brixton were closed from 8pm with witnesses likening the scenes to a “warzone”.  The MOBO-nominated star’s headline slot was cancelled at the last minute with promoters citing fears over crowd safety. Footage posted online appears to show dozens of people forcing their way inside via a fire escape as staff and concert-goers attempted to barricade the doors. Police were called and the gig was called off The Met was called in to provide backup after the venue’s security teams were overwhelmed. One witness tweeted: “I hope no one I know got hurt at the Alkaline concert. Brixton was looking like a real war zone.”

I-Octane Talks His Mother Still Is A Street Vendor Despite His Success I-Octane mother is still a street vendor despite his massive success in dancehall. After being called out by some of his fans, the “Mama” singjay is opening up about issue revealing that it’s his mother’s choice to stick to her hustle despite her son’s wealth and support. “My mother’s reality is her vending and that is it,” the singer said. “She is not short of money or anything, but she used all her teenage years supporting us through vending.” I-Octane also reveals that he gives his mother US$1,000 each month and insists that she is not in need of anything. “So, despite the fact that I have a three storey house for my home, I have money and I gave her one floor for herself, she still doesn’t want to come there,” he added. Alkaline Dropping Sophomore Album Promises To Be Bigger Alkaline is currently working on his next big project, his sophomore album. Alkaline had one of the biggest reggae albums last year with his debut LP  New Level Unlocked  peaking at number one on the Billboard reggae album chart. After a brief stint touring overseas, the Vendetta boss returned to local soil with his first live performance in Jamaica in three years when he took the stage at New Rules last month. But since the start of the year the dancehall star has released handful of new singles prompting some fans to call for him to release more new music. Sources inside the Vendetta camp exclusively told Dancehall HipHop that one of the reasons why Alkaline hasn’t been releasing more music is because he is working on a much bigger project. “Sometime if you listen to the fans you put out a new song everyday and that can’t work because then you ended up putting out a bunch of foolishness like some other man,” sources

Singer Kim Kelly Talks Landing Vybz Kartel Collaboration These days when a new female deejay or singer want to get more attention they turn to Vybz Kartel, as in the case of Shenseea. Singer Kim Kelly also scores a collaborative single with the Worl’Boss that she is getting a lot of attention for. The single “Alive” was released in March on the Rave Riddim, produced by Silverbirds Records. Speaking with the Nightly Fix, she revealed that her producer wanted to give her career a big push so he got a collaboration with Vybz Kartel.  “This song is helping me to get more acknowledgement,” she said. “The producer had the song and I guess she just look at me and said Kim you know what you need a song to burst so he just gave me the track and I send it back to them and they mix master and release it.” She also revealed that having Vybz Kartel on the single gave it a big push. Kartel also gave Shenseea a huge push last year when they collaborated on the smash hit single “Loodi.” T

Are Popcaan and Ishawna Beefing Over Fake Collaboration Popcaan and Ishawna appears to be involved in a little beef over a song that was uploaded to YouTube this week.  A collaboration between the Unruly Boss deejay and Ishawna titled “Ready For War” made its way onto YouTube but the song turns out to be fake. Popcaan called out the single calling it unauthorized and posted a message on his Instagram when he got some push back from Ishawna and her fans. “Everyone have the right to freedom of speech and a couple more things, but guess what after you make your speech and expression,” Poppy wrote on IG. “I still don’t give a f**k, have a nice day now.. #unrulymiunruly.” Ishawna also posted a subliminal shot at the “Where We Come From” deejay. “Mi love it when dem plan up and group up, it mek it easier fi dem get shoot up,” she wrote. Non of the two deejays have confirmed the single, but sources confirmed that the single is fake.

Watch Popcaan Profiled On “Before They Were Famous” Popcaan  is only the third dancehall artist to be profiled on the hit series “Before They Were Famous.” After the two top artists in the genre, Vybz Kartel and Alkaline, were featured on the Michael McCrudden-hosted show, Popcaan gets the same treatment after his Unruly fans blew away the survey on which dancehall artist should be featured next. The episodes got so much views that McCrudden currently has a long list of dancehall artists to be featured including Sean Paul, Shaggy, Mavado, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and many more.
