DJ Khaled and Buju Banton Working On New Music In Jamaica

DJ Khaled and Buju Banton Working On New Music In Jamaica DJ Khaled and Buju Banton hit the studio. We The Best Music Group chief DJ Khaled touched down in Kingston, Jamaica on Sunday to meet with Buju Banton and record some new music with the Gargamel. The hip-hop mogul brought along his wife and his son Asahd for a vacation/work trip to the island. In true Khaled style, he is documenting the entire trip on his social media, just tune into his Snapchat, and you will not miss a beat.  DJ Khaled told us that it had been twelve years since he’s been to Jamaica partly because at one point he had stopped flying. “I’ve been here in twelve years, and I just started flying again two years ago,” the rapper/producer said. One of the first order of business for Khaled, when he touched down on Jamaican soil, is to visit Buju Banton, who was released from federal prison in the United States on December 7th. Buju’s return home is still being celebrated over a week later. His fans worldwide and hi…

Elephant Man Style Beenie Man In Fire New Diss Track – Listen
Elephant Man claps back at Beenie Man in a fire new diss track “Yuh Too Lie.” Dancehall nice again. Elephant Man and Beenie Man beef is far from over. After the Doc drops a gritty diss track “Don’t Say Nuttin,” Ele took a brief break due to the passing of his mother. It seems the Energy God was quietly working on his response while also mourning his mom because he returned to the airwaves with a fiery new track and another one is on the way. In the single “Yuh Too Lie,” Elephant Man responds to Beenie Man diss about his house having the same color as his hairstyle. “Yuh say me house favor the color of my hair but me a the owner, Why them fling you out a the apartment up a Mona, Say money stock and pile when that is just a lie, Yo don’t even rich like Donia,” Elephant spits. Ele even styled Beenie Man calling him the self-proclaim king of dancehall who is on a poster wearing a frock. Elephant Man is also teasing another sin…

PHOTOS: BUJU BANTON AND DAUGHTER REUNITE AFTER HIS RELEASE FROM PRISON
During Buju Banton’s sentencing seven years ago, a US federal court in Tampa reportedly heard a heartfelt request for leniency from the Reggae icon’s then 11-year-old daughter, Abihail Myrie. “I can’t imagine a life without my father,” the child reportedly wrote. “I would really appreciate if you would give him a second chance.” It was therefore no surprise the joy she felt last weekend after being reunited with her dad following his release from prison on drug related charges The Jamaican entertainer’s child shared the heartwarming moment along with several photos of the two in a post on social media. “I’ve imagined what this moment would be like, replaying it over and over again in my head but now I can stop imagining because that moment is finally here,” Abihail wrote on December 8 via Instagram. “It’s so real and I can’t even find the words to express how i feel. I missed you so much Im so happy to finally have…

Bounty Killer Blast Dalton Harris He Is Not A Good Representative For Jamaica

Bounty Killer Blast Dalton Harris He Is Not A Good Representative For Jamaica
Bounty Killer had some more things to get off his chest about Dalton Harris. The dancehall legend is clearly still feeling salty about the infamous photo of Dalton Harris sitting on his fellow contestant, Brendan Murray’s lap. Bounty Killer, who was a big supporter of The X Factor champion, now says he withdrew his support after the photo went viral and triggered rumors claiming that he is gay. Of course, Harris has denied the rumors, but that is not enough for Grunggadzilla. During one of his recent performances, Bounty Killer lash out at Dalton Harris while telling the crowd that he is not a good representative for Jamaica on the global stage. “I represent for you because you’re a fellow Jamaican,” Killer told the crowd. “You out in the world should be representing for us as fellow Jamaicans. Jamaicans don’t hold certain morals and values… for that no gratitude.” Bounty Killer then went on to deliver a st…

Vybz Kartel and Shatta Wale collaboration is in the works. The incarcerated Gaza deejay confirmed on the Gram this week that his next collaboration is with African deejay Shatta Wale. Vybz Kartel has been dropping collabs with some new female artists in his camp, but last week we saw him jumping on Stylo G’s “Touch Down” remix with Nicki Minaj, and now we learned that a new track with Wale is coming soon. “[Vybz Kartel] we need a collaboration with you and [Shatta Wale] soon,” one fan asked the deejay who responded saying its coming in 2019. Sources inside the Gaza camp confirmed with Urban Islandz that the collaboration is already in the works. Buju Banton Hit The Studio With Stephen Marley & Producer Lenky
Buju Banton is already back in the studio with Stephen Marley and producer Lenky. Buju Banton is already working on his post-prison album due sometime early next year. The reggae superstar was spotted in the studio earlier this week with his longtime producer Lenky. Buju was again spotted in a rehearsal session with his close friend and reggae royalty Stephen Marley, which means that they likely have a show coming up soon. Buju Banton and Stephen Marley have been close friends for years. Back in 2010, Stephen put up his Miami mansion as security for Buju’s US$300,000 bail. Gargamel was released on bail in November 2010 after his first trial ended in a hung jury. Prosecutors then proceed with a retrial which ended with the reggae star being found guilty on three counts of cocaine trafficking. Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for the crimes. He was credited for time al…
Buju Banton Still Has Beef With Gays In Trinidad, Will It Affect His Show?
Buju Banton still has beef with the gay community in Trinidad. Earlier this year, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in Trinidad and Tobago came out strongly opposing to Buju Banton’s planned post-prison concertset for April next year on the island. Banton was still in prison at the time, and his management team had already signed the deal for the show to take place. One activist told Urban Islandz that they have serious concerns over bringing in the reggae superstar because of some of his past music. Buju Banton was released from federal prison in the United States last week Friday and is currently in Jamaica spending some quality time with his family. The singer has not spoken about the issue with the gay community in Trinidad, and the promoter insists that the show is still going on. Director of Trinidad’s Coalition Advocating for Inclusion of Sexual Orientation (CAISO), Colin Robi…

Popcaan Message To Dancehall Artists “Riddims Don’t Win Grammys”

Popcaan Message To Dancehall Artists “Riddims Don’t Win Grammys”
Popcaan has a straightforward message to dancehall artists, “Riddims don’t win Grammys.” Popcaan sent out a tweet this week that will resonate among dancehall artists. The unruly boss is celebrating the success of his new album Forever which is currently number two on the charts despite being released from July of this year. Bob Marley‘s Legend (Remastered) album is at the top of the chart, and his Legend (Deluxe) is at number three. This proves to you the longevity of Bob Marley’s work, which is still selling well decades after his death. “Still top of the charts,” Popcaan tweeted. “Just a reminder to the dancehall industry riddims don’t win Grammys, projects/body of work do. Let’s keep putting out more projects for 2019 Go buy Forever or stream it. More videos on the way.” Most dancehall artists already know this, but why aren’t more deejays releasing more albums? The answer is very simple; they lack the resources and…

Ishawna & Masicka Confirms Relationship After Months Of Rumors
Ishawna has confirmed her relationship with Masicka after months of rumors. Since last year, Ishawna and Masicka have been rumored to be dating, and now they’re finally stepping out of the shadows as dancehall’s newest power couple. Urban Islandz first reported last year that solid sources spilled the beans on their relationship. The couple managed to keep their relationship under wraps for the most part, except when some random photos would surface online showing them together. On Tuesday, Ishawna posted a few pics of herself and Masicka on her Instagram while wishing the Genahsyde deejay a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday to a king,” she wrote along with a king, crocodile, and heart emoji. The “Infrared” deejay liked the post but didn’t comment. Masicka is celebrating his 25th birthday today, December 4, 2018. He has been in the United States for the past few weeks tour and has a show this weekend in San Diego, as well…

Reggae music to be protected by the UN

Reggae music to be protected by the UN
Reggae has been added to a list of international cultural treasures which the United Nations has deemed worthy of protecting and promoting. The music, which grew out of Jamaica in the 1960s thanks to artists like Toots and the Maytals, Peter Tosh and Bob Marley, was added to the collection due to its "intangible cultural heritage". Reggae is "cerebral, socio-political, sensual and spiritual," said Unesco. It has "penetrated all corners of the world," added a Jamaican spokesperson. Reggae followed on from the ska and rocksteady genres - other early pioneers included Lee Scratch Perry and Prince Buster. Millie Small's 1964 ska cover of My Boy Lollipop also helped introduce reggae's laidback groove to the world. Reggae became popular in the United States but particularly flourished in the UK, which had become home to many Jamaican immigrants since the end of World War Two. The British reggae label Trojan, which c…
