BUJU BANTON THANKS SUPPORTERS, DENIES RELEASING NEW MUSIC
Buju Banton has issued his first official statement since his return to Jamaica.
The Reggae icon, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, arrived on the island Friday evening after being released from a US federal prison in Atlanta, Georgia.
In the statement shared on his Instagram page, Buju Banton expressed his gratitude to his fans for their continuous support.
“We thank each and every one of you for the outpouring of love for Buju Banton upon his return home,” Read the statement by Banton’s publicist, Ronnie Tomlinson.
“Buju is humbled and filled with gratitude at all the well wishes, tributes, words of encouragement and would like to say thank you! At this time and for the next weeks, Buju will be spending time with family, friends and loved ones and has no plans of any public appearances.”
The statement also refuted allegations that the Grammy-winning artist released new music since his release.
“We would also like to inform you that there has been no new music released by Buju Banton and absolutely no dubplate sessions set up as of now,” the statement read.
Buju Banton’s management team assured fans that all official announcements will be done on the Jamaican musician’s official social media accounts.
